Today I was curious to know what are our users using ommwriter for, so I tweeted asking what people are writing. Josh Dance, one of our followers on Twitter suggested that I posted some of the replies, so here I am broadcasting a sample of the incredibly broad variety of uses of ommwriter.
- tim_nolan Character treatments, script ideas. brand stories.
- pfaf a term paper about early hominid bone marrow consumption… I’m trying to finish it today.
- fluffymaccoy I’m writing some notes on CMS requirements. Very boring task made bearable by ommwriter, bless you and your lovely snowy trees.
- abrahamvegh Randomly started writing what could amount to a novel someday, two nights ago. It’s just to easy to write.
- hyperating a few poems as they pass in and out of my head. A letter from Vincent to Theo keeps running around in my head at the same time.
Every day is more rewarding to know people are enjoying ommwriter and that we’re making some people’s life easier. Thank you all.

Keep all my Blog post ideas in Ommwriter. I have 4 of them going at teh moment. Easy to get to.
Do wish I could save them somewhere other than my Desktop.. And a Spellchecker would be cool.
Love it! OMMMMMMMMMM…..
Hey Les, you can save anywhere you like! also you can enable the spell check feature of mac so it will let you know…
So glad you are enjoying it
Just got my copy of Ommwriter installed today. Using it to write a news release for a client. I love the writing space, the sounds, and the gorgeous snowy trees. I, too, think I will draft blog posts on Ommwriter.

Hey guys! I’ve been using OmmWriter for a week or so now. I pull it up for quick free-flow creative writing sessions. Then, hopefully, I will soon use some of this material as the basis of a song or two (singer/songwriter).
Thanks for putting this together! It’s an amazing program with a definite niche.
I’ll mostly be using it to help me with a novel that I started within the past month. I never knew I liked writing so much and it’s helped pass the time. OmmWriter just makes it so much easier to get lost in writing. I might also use it for my second English class I have coming up this next quarter.
Fantastic! is inspiring to know we created a tool to get people flowing with their creative, academic and personal endeavors. Please share blog post, songs, papers and poems if you feel like it.
Hey there. I like to write down ideas with ommwriter. might you include an option to highlight text in bold or something?
Regards,
Mike.
I actually use it for beta testing notes too. It’s nice to not have to switch to a different app to jot something down about the app and then go back to the original app I was testing. It helps me catch things faster.
what am I writing with OmmWriter? Nothing, yet… I’m a PC-user, in love with this program, and extremely distressed that I don’t own a Mac right about now. OmmWriter would be perfect for me considering my desktop is consistently littered with a million post it notes and notepads of the surprising amount of things I write down on a daily basis. Any news as to when it’ll be available for PCs?
In beginning 2010 I’m starting my blog so right now I’m preparing some articles. Really love it !!!
The fun part about beautiful applications like Ommwriter is that it makes me *seek out* opportunities to do writing just so that I can use the application more.
I (plan to) write papers for my academic job. Allowing few exceptions, academic writing is hardly beautiful in any way, because it is not meant to be and serves purposes that are not orientated towards elegance or even wide-range legibility. Sociologist Howard Becker has a more developed argument on this (Writing for Social Scientists).
Bringing back some simplicity and pleasure to it might help me get over with dissertation writing, which is right near the top of academic deformity (yet do not get me wrong, I like what I do, I just believe a clear conscience about its flaws and side effects are part of doing it better).
What am I writing with Ommwriter? How about everything? You have successfully elevated to simplicity what had been reduced to freneticism…and helped redeem an art precariously close to dormancy. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Wow, just wow. This program was just what i needed.
Thank you.
The *Contact & Feedback* does not work in terms of allowing messages to be written.
How do I get the backgound images(Trees) back in the latest Ommwriter?
Thank you.
This looks like a great application, I can’t wait to try it!
I’d love for it to have Markdown support somehow. Markdown through the beauty of your right side buttons, that would be lovely.
I use TextMate as my tool of choice for writing and posting to my blog, I’d love to combine the beauty of Ommwriter and the power of TextMate’s blogging bundle. If not enabled natively, perhaps through a plugin architecture?
:·) Cheers!
Good work ! Keep us posting, you are very good writer.
