Ommwriter Frequently Meditated Questions (FMQs)

We finally have a new section on the site with the most Frequently Meditated Question (FMQs). Here we will do our best to post the top questions received from you, and, where possible, try to give carefully meditated answers to those questions.

Just as in real life, we may not have the right answer to your question. In that case, we will reply with an honest “sorry, we don’t know”. Other times, we may need more time do our homework, and so we will say “stay tuned” or “we’re looking into it”.

We hope you have a great inspiration-filled weekend.

Awesome application. Lovely, simple and friendly GUI. Thanks a lot!

  2. Jim says:

Really, this is the best program ever created for creative writing. There is just something so liberating when you first start it up. All the distractions, all the stress, all the confusion that comes with a crowded desktop (even a Mac one) — all of them slip away and at once, I am ready to write.

Thank you for a great product.

I have been saying I would start writing something forEVER, and just today, after discovering your program, I finally have. This program MAKES me write! Love everything about it. Thanks for the inspiration.

  4. I am greatly intrigued by your program. However, I… do not own a Mac!

I was wondering if there were any plans in the future for providing Ommwriter to Linux users?

    Please? :)

i love the minimalist philosophy behind this project. as a word processor, it’s a much sleeker application than Word, and fits in beautifully with OS X.

P.S. The icon reminds me of the iPhone’s home button.

  6. I like ommwriter so much, not because is simple, but looks simple, clean, fresh. I think you may complicate this software as much as you want (I want to have more options) but as long as it looks that simple and elegant, will earn more users.

This is so fantastic. This is exactly what is needed in office cubicles everywhere. Now I want to write, and blog, and do all sorts of things thanks to your thoughtful design and interface.

Here’s my humble voice in favor of PC version of Ommwriter

  10. Sebastian says:

How do I restore the background graphics( Trees in snow) in the current version?
Is there a way to make longer music themes(loops)?

I downloaded the program for my mac and dragged it into the applications folder. When I double click on it, there’s a movement from the file and a momentary jitter in the icon tray as if another icon is about to be added, and then nothing happens. No icon, no program starting. It’s as if I never double clicked it. How do I get this program to load? Thanks!

  12. Deborah says:

Like the mac, it just works. Love it. Thanks for creating this simple, relaxing, no thinking to it program. Don’t think I would change much. It works great and serves a purpose, at least for me. If it doesn’t give me a headache then I am for it…

  13. Emre says:

One feature that would be a nice to have is to be able to save the text written directly into google docs or some other form of cloud infrastructure.
I love this app by the way. When I write with it my six year old loves going to sleep listening to it. If my most important fan is happy, I am happy.

    Cheers

  14. Very cool blog, but you must improve your template graphics.
